James McFarlane has become a Lion IT sensation since joining the company in 2004.
He’s responsible for keeping everyone in the company connected and working effectively whether at they’re at their desks in London, New York and Scotland or filming in the remotest regions on earth, through his slick network of computers, phones, printers, the Lion Intranet, the PBX system and the Lion server room.
In practical terms he looks after over 500 computers, 300 phones, 20 printers, and around 5 terabytes of data on the Lion network which spans across the Atlantic.
He is constantly updating this technological web.
His IT strategy decisions harness the latest advances in multi-media technology to ensure Lion’s systems operate at the cutting edge.
In practical terms it’s thanks to James that the computers here don’t crash half way through writing a script, that information, images and footage can be shared over a wide variety of technological platforms, that we can connect with the outside world, print glossy treatments, and drop an email to a production manager from the rim of a volcano 3,000 miles away knowing with absolute certainty it’ll get there.
He is also the only man who seems to be able to get the TV working in the Board Room.
James gained a degree in Multi-media Technology in 2000 and has since pursued a successful career in the IT Industry for the last 9 years.
In addition to his passion for Networking and Multi-Media Technology, James is a keen darts and tennis player and is often seen heading happily out to the Ravenscourt Park courts swinging a racket at lunchtime.
He’s also Lion’s Lawn Bowls Champion and a mean Poker Player!
