Double shortlist success at the British Journalism Awards 2026!
Two Channel 4 Dispatches investigations featuring journalist Matt Shea have been shortlisted for the British Journalism Awards 2026, recognising their work across crime, legal affairs and politics.
Hunting Britain’s Fugitives has been shortlisted in the Crime & Legal Affairs Journalism category, while Palestine Action: The Truth Behind the Ban has been shortlisted in the Politics Journalism category.
Both investigations tackle significant issues facing the UK. Hunting Britain’s Fugitives follows Matt Shea as he investigates the people evading the justice system, exploring why thousands of suspects fail to appear in court and the challenges facing efforts to track them down.
In Palestine Action: The Truth Behind the Ban, Matt examines the controversy surrounding the government’s decision to ban Palestine Action, exploring the issues and questions at the heart of the debate.
Matt has also been entered for Journalist of the Year, with the winner to be announced at the ceremony.
Now in their 15th year, the British Journalism Awards celebrate journalism that serves the public interest and brings important stories to light. This year’s shortlist was selected by 73 independent judges from 695 entries.
The winners will be announced at the British Journalism Awards ceremony in London on 10 December 2026.
Congratulations to Matt Shea and everyone involved in both Dispatches investigations on this recognition.
