'Orrible Opera storms the Proms

Horrible Histories 'Orrible Opera took over the Royal Albert Hall for the BBC Proms on Saturday 22nd July.

Two sold-out performances witnessed an unholy medley of Mozart bottom jokes, Queen Victoria seemed very much not amused to see her hall full of children, let alone Valkyries flinging body parts, toreadors revelling in bull-fighting and the Queen of the Night urging her daughter to become a murderer. Egyptians, Vikings and Suffragettes stormed the stage - as ENO singers brought the house down with classic opera arias such as Nessun Dorma and Summertime.

It was the second time Horrible Histories had come to world's biggest music festival. For this Prom, Lion joined forces with Birmingham Stage, BBC Proms, CBBC and the ENO chorus and orchestra under the world-class baton of Keri-Lynn Wilson.

The prom climaxed with Queen Victoria leading the packed concert hall in a rendition of newly updated HH classic The Monarch Song.  The show was broadcast live on BBC Radio 3 and will be on screen from September 8th.
